Three Year Black Boycott of Miami Tourism
When Nelson Mandela visited Miami in 1990 he was
was not welcomed by Miami politicians, reportedly
because of his long-time support of Cuba's Fidel Castro.
That caused African-American leaders to call for
black boycott of Miami tourism that only ended
when Miami-Dade County and City of Miami Beach officials
reached an agreement with tourism promoters and
local black activists in 1993.
