Miami Children's Museum
This hands-on children's museum is more then 56,000
square feet in size and it includes 12 display
galleries, a 200 seat auditorium, classrooms,
a gift shop, and a Subway restaurant. The museum
was founded in 1983 and its newest building opened
to the public in 2003. It is located on Watson
Island on the shore of Biscayne Bay on the other
side of the causeway from Parrot Jungle Island.
Historical Museum of Southern Florida
Exhibits depict the history of South Florida
and the Caribbean. Accredited by the
American Association of Museums since 1979.
Jewish Museum of Florida
Founded in 1995 to share the experiences of the Florida Jewish
community from 1763 to the present day.
The museum is housed in a synagogue built
in 1936 that is on the National Register of Historic
Places. Located at 301 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach.

Miami Museum of Science
Includes a science museum, a planetarium, the
Weintraub Observatory, and a wildlife center.
The museum was founded in 1950 as a children's
museum on the corner of Biscayne Boulevard
and 26th Street. In 1960 they moved to their
current facility on on the grounds of the Vizcaya
Mansion and National Historic Site.
Miccosukee Indian Village
This museum on the Tamiami Trail
has an indoor area with artifact displays
and an outdoor area with demonstrations
of indian beadwork, basket weaving, doll
making, and other crafts. Airboat tours
are also available.
Gold Coast Railroad Museum
This train museum features a display
of railroad locomotives and it also offers
rides on a children's gauge train and
and a standard guage train.
Art Museums in Florida
The Miami Art Museum, Lowe Art Museum, the Frost Art Museum,
and other museums in and near Miami with permenant
and changing art exhibits. The museum is located
next to the Miami-Dade County MetroZoo.
