Geology of Miami Florida
Information about the geology of Maimi Florida.
Miami sits on top of a type of surface bedrock called Miami Oolite (aka Miami Limestone). That bedrock is covered by a layer of soil about 50 feet thick. Miami limestone was formed by dramatic changes in sea level during the ice age.
