An introduction to the city of Sweetwater in Miami-Dade
County in South Florida.
The city of Sweetwater, Florida was incorporated in 1941
and today it has the largest concentration
of Nicaraguan Americans in the United States. It is known
locally as "Little Managua". The city does not have its
own school district. Its students attend the Miami-Dade
County Pubic Schools. The main campus of Florida International
University is located just south of Sweetwater.
